Use co-authoring in Word, to work on documents simultaneously with colleagues. At the end of the session, the last person to close the document sets the version and comment information.

  Can we set the version information at the start/during editing, so that all edits going forward are part of that new version immediately, rather than waiting at the end, in case the last person to close the document is not the one responsible for setting the version.
