Saving Microsoft Office documents to SharePoint
MacroView DMS Pro provides several ways to save a document to SharePoint:
- Save As to SharePoint in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to a Library, Document Set or Folder in the MacroView Tree
- Drag and drop a document(s) from either the Desktop, Local Drive, File Share etc to a Library, Document Set or Folder in the MacroView Tree
Saving a document using Save As to SharePoint
MacroView DMS Pro integrates with Microsoft Office and allows you to upload a document to SharePoint from Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint using the Save As to SharePoint button in the MacroView group of buttons on the Home ribbon.
Clicking the above button will display the Save to SharePoint dialogue:
In the MacroView tree, navigate to the Library, Document Set or Folder to save to, enter text in File Name and choose OK to upload the document to SharePoint.
Open a document in SharePoint
To open an existing document in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, select the button below Open from SharePoint in the MacroView group on the Home ribbon:
Clicking the above button will display the Open from SharePoint dialogue displaying Browse mode with the MacroView Tree open at the recently used location i.e. Library, Document Set or folder:
Navigate to the location, or use other modes to locate the document to open – Favourites, Recent or Search
Open the document by double-click or select then press Enter on keyboard.
Saving a document from the Desktop or File Share in SharePoint
Open the Library, document set or folder in the MacroView tree. From File Explorer, select the files to import and drag and drop to Library, document set or folder.
MacroView DMS Explorer
MacroView DMS Pro also includes MacroView DMS Explorer, which is a Microsoft Windows application that is installed as part of MacroView DMS Pro and allows you to view and manage your SharePoint files using a familiar Windows Explorer-style interface. With MacroView DMS Explorer you can drag and drop to move or copy one or more files from one SharePoint location to another or from a Windows folder into SharePoint. MacroView DMS Explorer also lets you rename, delete, manage permissions, view version history, download and open files stored in SharePoint.
DMS Explorer Modes
The Browse mode in DMS Explorer shows the MacroView Tree in the left pane and all the other modes above the tree:
Favourites
Shows SharePoint locations you have marked as a favourite. You can also create groups in the Favourites mode for further organisation. To do this, right-click empty space in the tree view and select Create Group.
To mark a site, library, document set or folder as a favourite, select the item, r/c choose Add to Favourites
You can choose to rename the title, which is only for you, this does not change the title in SharePoint. If you have previously created a group, choose the group, otherwise the item will sit directly under the Favourites node. Click OK to save.
Recents
This provides you with a list of recently accessed files, searches and locations:
Recent Files – Shows a list of your most recently used file in reverse chronological order (most recently used files at the top of the display). Various details for each file including its SharePoint location are also shown. Double-clicking on an entry in this list causes the file to be opened from SharePoint into the relevant application.
You can choose to filter this view to “Opened” or “Modified”:
You can choose to open the location of an item listed in Recent Files, r/c the item and choose Open File Location and this will switch you back to Browse, select the location the file is stored showing contents of location
To remove a file from the Recent Files list, r/c on the file and choose Remove in Recent Files:
Recent Searches - this will display all the searches recently performed and you can click on any to rerun the search real time:
Searches can be added to the Favourites Mode and if you want to check the search criteria, choose Show Search Criteria
Recent Locations - the Recent mode of MacroView DMS makes it easy to retrieve files that you have used recently and to navigate to document library locations that you have accessed recently.

Saving / Opening a document using Adobe Acrobat
When using Adobe Acrobat, to save a file to SharePoint or to open a file from SharePoint, choose Menu à Plugins
Emailing a copy/link of a document

To email a copy of a document, r/c choose Send as -> File |
To email a link of a document, r/c choose Send as -> Link |
Preview Files
Viewing the contents of a document, ensure the Preview button is on
Rename files
Select the file to rename, r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Rename:
Alternatively, from the Manage group of buttons on the File ribbon choose Rename:
Delete files
Select the file(s) to delete, r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Delete or use the Delete button on the keyboard:

Undelete files
Files you have accidentally deleted from a folder can be retrieved from the SharePoint Recycle Bin. On the library, r/c Open in Browser and choose Recycle Bin
Select the file to restore:
Refresh the folder the file was deleted from and the deleted file will be back in the folder.
Move Files
Select the file(s) to move, r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Move to… then choose the location to move the file(s) to
Alternatively, from the Clipboard group of buttons on the File ribbon choose Cut:
Copy Files
Select the file(s) to copy, r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Copy then choose the location to move the file(s) to
Alternatively, from the Clipboard group of buttons on the File ribbon choose Copy:
Create a new folder
Select the library to create a new folder in, r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Create Folder or Document Set -> Folder
If the site and library are configured for Document Sets, a new Document Set can also be created:
Upload Files
Files can also be uploaded to SharePoint using drag / drop and when the mouse is released, the following Uploading dialogue is displayed:
Download Files
Select the file(s) to download, r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Download then choose the location to download the file(s) to
Alternatively, from the Share group of buttons on the File ribbon choose Copy:
Copy Link
To copy the link of a file(s), select the file(s) then r/c to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Copy as Link:
Email files as attachments
Files can be sent in an email as files, links and Microsoft Office documents i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can be converted to PDFs to send in an email
Alternatively, from the Share group of buttons on the File ribbon choose Send Attachment OR Send Link:
