MacroView Mail Welcome
The first time you use MacroView Mail, you will see the welcome screen with information on the App and the MacroView End User Agreement.
You must accept the terms of the End User Agreement in order to start using MacroView Mail.
To hide the Welcome screen when starting MacroView Mail, uncheck the Keep showing this welcome screen option. Hiding the screen reduces the number of actions needed to save emails, speeding up the overall process.
To display the Welcome screen once it is hidden, go to Settings and check the Show Welcome screen option.
Saving emails to SharePoint
MacroView Mail is an app available from the Microsoft AppSource and when installed it will be available in Outlook New, Outlook Web and the Outlook app on mobile devices. When configured correctly, MacroView Mail allows you to save emails to SharePoint Online (Office 365), OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams.
To save an email using Mail
- Select the message from an Outlook folder e.g. Inbox, Sent Items, etc
- To open the MacroView Mail tree in right pane, click the Mail icon from the header of the email labelled “Save to SharePoint”:
- To open the MacroView Mail tree in the right pane if more than one email is selected, choose MacroView Mail:
- The MacroView Mail tree displays the following areas to save to in SharePoint:
- Recent
- Favourites
- SharePoint
- My OneDrive
- Teams
Pin MacroView Mail
To pin the MacroView Mail pane:
By pinning the pane, MacroView Mail will always open when Outlook Classic is launched and launch quicker when an email is selected to save when using Outlook New or/and Outlook Web.
When the email is successfully uploaded to SharePoint, the grey category is added to the beginning of the email Subject marked Saved to SharePoint including the full SharePoint URL save path.
Saving an open email using MacroView Mail
Open the message from the Outlook folder e.g. Inbox, Sent Items, etc and click Save to SharePoint button as shown below:
MacroView Mail Quick Save
The quick save option in MacroView Mail allows users to save emails and attachments without prompting or confirming file metadata, reducing the number of steps needed to save files to SharePoint.
To turn on this option, go to Settings:
Saving email attachments
By default, MacroView Mail will save an email and attachments as one file, however there are a couple of methods to save the attachments separately.
In the example below, it shows 1 item selected
And when expanded, the attachment(s) will be listed:
If required, this provides the option to save the email and attachment(s) to different locations i.e. save the email to an Emails folder and the attachment(s) to a Documents folder.
To save the attachment(s) in the email, select the files to be saved then find the folder to save them to i.e. Documents:
The default behaviour described above can be changed in Settings:
There are three options for Items selected for saving:
- Emails message only (default)
- Attachments
- Email message and attachments
Click Save Changes for changes to be applied.
When an Email message with attachments is selected, Mail will automatically select both the email, and all the attachments found in the email as shown below:
Inserting a file in a new email
From the Message ribbon, select the MacroView Mail button and the MacroView Mail tree is launched
Navigate to the location where the file is located and expand the folder:
To select the file, click on the ellipse button:
Choose Insert as attachment (to send the file externally or to someone in your organisation with no security access to the file) and choose Insert as link to send to someone in your organisation with security access to the file

Move emails to folder after saving
The Settings page displays several options allowing you to customise your app experience and configure advanced fields. To move emails to folder after saving, select the option below which by default is unticked and Save Changes.
Renaming Folders
In the Mail tree, existing folders can be renamed.
