By default the Browse mode in MacroView DMS and MacroView DMS Pro will return all site collections, excluding personal sites, that authenticated users have permissions to view. The browse mode can be configured to restrict the areas displayed by setting an alternate Browse Result Source in the registry.
How to configure an alternate Browse Result Source
- Create a new Result Source in the SharePoint Search Application.
- Note the newly created Result Source’s ID in the URL path for the above page. Replace all references to %2D with a ‘-
- Change the BrowseResultSource value for the server entry in the registry to point to the new result source ID
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MacroView\DMF\Servers\ServerName - Before making any registry updates to MacroView please close all applications and then exit the MacroView DMS caching process. Once the process is not running then apply the registry update.
Note that while this restricts the sites displayed in the browse tree view, it does not prevent the user finding the hidden sites using some of the search options available throughout MacroView DMF. If a user locates a hidden location via search and selects that location, the specific site or other nodes require to display that location will be temporarily added to the browse tree and will be removed only once that area is refreshed.
