MacroView DMF and many of its various optional modules and extensions can be configured simply by making changes to the user registry or by updating a few configuration files. Below is a list of some of the areas that can be configured.
Search Panels
Custom search panels can be configured using an XML file and by creating managed search properties in SharePoint Admin.

Corporate Email Filing Rules
MacroView Corporate Email Filing (CEF) rules (license required) can be configured using an XML file.

Localisation / Rebranding
Localisation can be particularly useful to "rebrand" MacroView DMF so that references to SharePoint or MacroView DMF throughout the user interface are replaced with the internal name of your organizations Document Management Solution.

Office Documents on the 'New' button
You can configure where the templates offered on the 'New' button on the DMF File List Toolbar.

Hiding Furniture Nodes
You can hide libraries with specific titles using an XML file. This can be useful for hiding libraries that are not relevant to saving and working with documents.

Registry Settings
Almost all settings for MacroView DMF and Message can be configured by editing values in the registry of each users PC.
Registry settings are locations under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MacroView\DMF

MacroView Solution Files
Standard MacroView solutions can be provisioned using the MacroView Solution Provisioning (MVSP) extension and some elements of these solutions can be configured by editing the XML files without engaging MacroView. This also applies where MacroView Professional Services has supplied custom solution files.
The elements of a solution that can be configured are:
- The default folders that are created below a solution library
- Which columns on a provisioned library's content types are to be hidden
- Which options are available on the right-click Provision menu option
