Purpose
The Create Document plugin for MacroView DMF allows you to create new Office documents from DMF Explorer and the DMF Outlook pane with a simple right click on any SharePoint library, document set or folder.
Create Document adds a right-click menu to the tree view in DMF with any Office templates located in the current user's Office Shared Templates path or a specified template location. If no template path is defined, the right-click menu will provide options to create a blank Word, Excel or PowerPoint Document.
Create Document right-click menu
Create Document (no path defined)
On selection of an item on the right-click menu, Create Document generates a new document based
on the selected template and opens the MacroView DMF Save to SharePoint dialog with the location
pre-set to the library, document set or folder you right-clicked. You then specify a filename (and if
required a different save location) and the document is saved and ready for you to continue editing.

Configuration
The Office SharedTemplates path can be set via the Workgroup templates setting in Microsoft Word.
The default behaviour of the Create Document DMF plugin(v3.0.5/v3.0.7) can be modified via a number of
configuration settings stored in the MacroView.DMF.CreateDocument.dll.config file located in the
users Program Files\MacroView\DMF\Extensions\MacroView\CreateDocument folder.
Setting | Description | Value |
AlternateTemplatePath | If defined, use the specified location to identify templates rather than the Office SharedTemplates path. | Local or network drive path |
DisplayFlatListInDMF | If True, the right click menu does not cascade if any folder structure exists at the specified template location and instead displays all identified templates in a single flat sub menu. | True or False |
DisplayDMFSaveAsInWord |
If True, the DMF Save to SharePoint dialog will be displayed automatically for documents created in this application. Notes:

MacroView DMF 8.8.647
Documents can also be created using the New button on the File List Toolbar in MacroView DMF or Message 8.8.647 or later. When setting up Templates area, Create Document v3.0.8 and newer, can share the same the same configuration files as the New button.
If your organizations templates are not in the same place on all users computers, or accessible on a file share that all users have access too, MacroView DMF can help deploy these templates to each user.
The three steps required are:
- Create a Templates folder in your central configuration (resource library)
- Configure the Create Document function on the Create Document in the context menu to point to this folder on each users computer
- Select Central Configuration Location and download.
Create the template folder to the central configuration location
Below the Templates folder you can create a sub folder structure if required and then upload Office templates to these folders.
MacroView DMF will then download these templates and the folder structure to the C:\Users\<yourprofile>\AppData\Roaming\MacroView DMF\Store\Templates folder on each users computer and will update the files whenever they are modified in the central location.
Configure the Create Document flyout menu
The configuration file that controls the Create Document menu option on the Create Document is located under the users profile at:
C:\Users\<yourprofile>\AppData\Roaming\MacroView DMF\Store\Extensions\CreateNewDocument
or the
Extensions\CreateNewDocument folder in the central configuration location.
By default these these templates will come from your Office shared template path but by pointing these configuration files at the users %AppData%\MacroView DMF\Store\Templates folder (where the files and folders from the Templates folder in the central configuration location have been copied to in step 1), the options on the New > Office Document menu will reflect the files in that folder.
You can also deploy the Create New Document configuration files from the the central configuration location (resource library). See Create folders and documents from the File List Toolbar for more information.
