DMS Next Options

DMS Next provides a range of options that allow you to customise your app experience and configure advanced fields. You can find these on the Options tab in DMS Next.

The following screenshots show the available options in the latest release, highlighting what's changed from the previous release.

  1. A new Appearance option that toggles display of a search box above the tree view.
  2. New Configuration and rules options to configure custom search panels, automatic view selection, and pre-defined folder structures.
  3. Simplified labels for various options.

Options

License Information

Displays license status and related information.

  • If DMS Next is licensed: A summary of your license status is displayed, as well as a Refresh button to get the latest status.
  • If DMS Next is not licensed: A button to start a 30-day free trial is available to new users, and a field to enter a product key is available to activate a paid license.

Appearance

Show breadcrumb above file list

A toggle option that controls whether a URL breadcrumb is displayed above the file list.

Show tree view search

A toggle option that controls whether a search box is displayed above the tree view.

Show what's new after each update

A toggle option that controls whether the What's New dialog is displayed when you open DMS Next after a software update has been deployed.

Tree view

TreeView configuraton

A configurable URL path that allows the user to define a remote location where DMS Next will backup and sync TreeView configuration. The following options are available:

  • Open Location
  • Change Location: Set the location where this configuration is stored.
Node Visibility

The Show Team sites under the SharePoint Online category option has been replaced with the comprehensive Node Visibility options. For more information, see Configure node visibility in the DMS Next tree view.

File open preference

When clicking on files always

Select one of the following options to determine what happens when selecting files in the file list.

  • Preview Only (Default value)
  • Open in App
  • Open in Browser

Favorites

Sync Favorites

A configurable URL path that allows the user to define a remote location where DMS Next will back up and sync favorites across all MacroView products. The following options are available:

  • Open Location
  • Change Location: Set the location where this configuration is stored.

Configurations and rules

Search panels configuration

Options to configure custom search panels. The following options are available:

  • Open Location
  • Change Location: Set the location where this configuration is stored.
  • Restore Default Location: This option is available only if the location has been changed from the default.

  • Edit

    1. Create a new panel from scratch
    2. Base a new panel on a default panel
    3. Edit a search panel's configuration
    4. Re-order the list of search panels

Upload naming rules

A configurable URL path that allows the user to define a remote location where DMS Next will backup and sync naming rules. The following options are available:

  • Open Location
  • Change Location: Set the location where this configuration is stored.
  • Restore Default Location: This option is available only if the location has been changed from the default.
  • Edit
Automatic view selection rules

Options to configure automatic view selection rules. The following options are available:

  • Open Location
  • Change Location: Set the location where this configuration is stored.

  • Restore Default Location: This option is available only if the location has been changed from the default. 

  • Edit
  1. Create a new rule from scratch
  2. Base a new rule on a default rule
  3. Edit a rule's configuration
  4. Re-order the automatic view selection rules

Create folder structure configuration

Options to configure pre-defined folder structures. The following options are available:

  • Open Location
  • Change Location: Set the location where this configuration is stored.

  • Restore Default Location: This option is available only if the location has been changed from the default. 

  • Edit
  1. Give your new folder structure a Name and an optional Description.
  2. Location conditions determine where this folder structure can be used to create new folders.
  3. Define the folder structure with sibling and child folders.

Version

The Version group contains the following.

  • A label displaying the DMS Next version number which includes the release number, build number, and branch.
  • Buttons for the following options:
    • Help and Support: Launches the MacroView Help Centre, with access to support and knowledge base articles.
    • What's New: Display the What's New dialog.
    • Reset Application: Resets the application and returns all settings to default.
    • Reload Options: Gets the latest organisation settings if any are defined and assigned to your user account. For more information, see Centrally configure and deploy user options with MacroView Settings.
