The DateTime control in MacroView DMF 8.8.90 and later allows users to quickly and easily enter dates and times when saving, filtering or searching for files.
If the property is configured as a 'date only' control, only the date component of the control is displayed.
See this article for more information on the display of and entering dates and time information in MacroView DMF and Message.
Entering dates and times on the properties dialog
When entering a custom date/time property on the MacroView DMF and MacroView Message properties dialog, the date entered is the date and time based of the time zone of the SharePoint sites regional settings, or your personal Office profile settings in SharePoint if they are set.
Dates can be entered manually by typing in the controls text box
or by selecting the required date from the calendar control.
When entering a date manually the required format depends on the locale settings for the site where the file is being saved or the local computers locate settings. The required format is displayed below the control and in a tooltip if you float the mouse over the date text box.
When selecting the date using the calendar control, to switch quickly between years and months, click on the left and right arrows in the control header or click on the month at the top of the control to jump directly to a different month.
Click again on the left and right arrows or on the year at the top of the control to jump directly to a different year.
You can also quick set the date to the current date based on your local computers date/time settings by selecting the 'Today' button at the bottom of the calendar control.
Times can be entered by selecting the hours and minutes from the control's dropdown lists or entering a value directly into the text boxes.
Entering date ranges on search panels
The date control on search panels can be configured as date only or date and time.
When the control is configured to display the date only, the search range is from 12:00 AM on the date specified in the top control to 12:00 AM on the day following the date specified in the bottom control.
The example below searches from 12:00 AM on 5th January 2021 to 12:00 AM on 10th January 2021.
To search based on a single day range you enter the same date in both controls.
The example below searches from 12:00 AM on 5th January 2021 to 12:00 AM on 6th January 2021
When the date control has been configure to show the 'date and time' the search range is from the exact date and time specified in the top control to the exact date and time specified in the bottom control.
For information on creating custom search panels see Defining custom search panels for DMF and Message
Entering dates when filtering
When filtering the file list on a date column the dates matching the properties on the files in the selected location are presented in a drop down list allowing you to quickly pick the required value.
Alternatively you can type the date in the filter control to specify the require value.
To clear an existing column filter, click the clear filter button
You can also filter on date time columns by opening the Key Filter dialog using the button on the File List Toolbar.
