SharePoint allows default values for a metadata column to be defined at the folder level. In previous versions of SharePoint, such default values could only be defined at the Document Library level.
MacroView DMS supports folder-level defaults as it saves a document to various Folder levels within a document library.
As you create a new Folder, MacroView DMS prompts for any relevant metadata attributes to the selected Folder or Content Type.
How to add a folder-level default
To add a folder-level default value:
- Using the DMS tree view, navigate to your desired folder
- Right-click the node and select "Open in Browser"
- In the SharePoint browser, select the Settings button > Library Settings > More library settings
- In the General Settings list, select "Column default value settings"
- In the list, select the column you'd like to give a default value
- In the Edit Default Value window, select the "Use this default value" button, enter your desired value, then click OK
Files saved to this location using the SharePoint browser or MacroView DMS will automatically apply the default value to the specified metadata column.
