The refresh indicator is a feature that was once only available SharePoint On-premise servers and it is now available for SharePoint Online servers from MacroView DMF/Message 8.9.491 and later.
Changes that have been made will display with a refresh icon in the tree view and it can be seen in both the Browse and Favorites modes. Right clicking on the tree node and selecting Refresh will refresh the tree-view display with any sites, libraries, folder and sub-folders that have been added or removed.
The refresh icon only appears when you start to use/click on a section of the tree that has changed.
When a refresh indicator appears, it means that new nodes have been created below that location and a refresh of the parent node is required to see the changes.
In the examples below, changes have been made by another user in the same tree folder location. The refresh icon appears to any user who is located in that folder tree, indicating a change has occurred in that location.
Refresh indicators appear from the site collection down to folders, where a new site, library or folder has been created.
Below indicates a new folder has been created below the Documents library.
Right-clicking on the tree-view, or pressing F5, will refresh the tree-view display.
How to enable the refresh indicator
The refresh indicator is not enabled by default. To enable it, go to Options > Appearance and tick Show refresh indicator on SharePoint Online.
