The new Outlook for Windows
The new Outlook for Windows is now available for customers who are opted into the Office Insiders Beta Channel.
If you are a paid customer with a commercial or education mailbox as your default sender account in classic Outlook for Windows and are in Beta Channel, you will see a “Try the new Outlook” toggle in the top right corner of that Outlook for Windows app.
You can switch that toggle to try the new Outlook for Windows:
This is an early preview of the new Outlook and hence, not all functionality from the classic Outlook for Windows is available in this version yet. Currently the new Outlook is an overlay to Outlook Web Access.
There are known limitations with this version of Outlook which have been detailed here: New Outlook for Windows & Getting started with the new Outlook for Windows
Does it work with DMS?
Currently MacroView DMS is not available in this version of Outlook due to the latter's lack of support for COM/VSTO Add-ins and no future plans to do so. This means that from a third-party vendor perspective (i.e., MacroView) there is no option to integrate with it.
Does this mean the end for the classic version of Outlook?
Quite simply, No! The New Outlook for Windows is not the end of the Classic Outlook for Windows, but rather a complementary and alternative option for users who prefer a simpler and more modern email and calendar app.

What alternatives do MacroView provide for new Outlook?
MacroView Mail is available today and works with new Outlook, Outlook Web Access and any other device running Outlook. It is an alternative to MacroView DMS for saving emails to SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive and also supports inserting files from SharePoint as attachments when composing or replying to emails.
MacroView Mail supports pinning the navigation pane and saving up to 100 emails at a time. Further updates are planned for Q2 2024 to provide the tree view navigation you are familiar with in MacroView DMS.
