About MacroView product licensing
MacroView DMS and other MacroView applications allow you to connect to on-premises SharePoint servers and Microsoft 365 without installing any custom server components. When using an on-premises server this is known as Client Side Only mode.
To activate your product license for use with these environments you need to sign in to the MacroView Licensing admin center or follow the activation prompts in the software and input your license key when requested.
Note: Not all MacroView applications support in-product license activation.
Signing in to MacroView Licensing
When you open the MacroView Licensing admin center you will be prompted to sign in with your Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) account. This is typically the work or school account that you would normally use with Microsoft 365, but you can use any Entra ID account.
The first time you sign in you may also be prompted to consent to the following app permissions:
These permissions are required in order for MacroView Licensing to sign you in and access basic profile information to identify you.
Using the admin center
The MacroView Licensing admin center provides a central location for administrators to manage their MacroView product licenses. When a license is activated it appears in the list of licenses available to manage for the signed in admin user:
Selecting a license displays its details including products, seat counts, expiry dates and active users:
A user is classified as active when they are running MacroView software that has requested the selected license within the last 90 days.
Activating a license
The preferred way to activate a new MacroView license is by configuring a SharePoint server in the client application.
A license for a Microsoft 365 tenant can also be activated by signing in to the MacroView Licensing admin center and selecting Activate a license:
Enter the License Key provided by MacroView and the desired SharePoint Tenant URL then click Next:
Select the products to activate (at least one product must be selected) then click Next:
Confirm the license activation details and click Activate.
After the license is activated it will appear in the licenses list.
Refreshing a license or changing the activated products
Sign in to the licensing admin center and select the license you want to update.
Click the Refresh button in the license panel:
Select the products to be activated (at least one product must be selected) and click OK:
Removing a license from your account
Sign in to the licensing admin center and select the license you want to remove.
Click the Remove button in the license panel:
Confirm that you wish to remove the license by clicking OK.
Viewing active users
You can view and export a list of active users by signing in to the licensing admin center, selecting a license and then clicking the Active Users tab in the license panel:
The Last Accessed date reflects the most recent time the corresponding MacroView product has requested the selected license for the user. Users who have not requested the license for more than 90 days don't appear in this list.
Click the Export button to download the complete Active Users list as a CSV.
Sharing a license with another administrator
Some organizations have multiple administrators that need access to manage the same MacroView licenses. When an administrator signs in to the MacroView Licensing admin center by default they will only see licenses they have activated themselves.
To share a license so that other administrators can manage it, select the Sharing tab in the license panel and then click Share:
Use the sharing pane to select one or more users and click Share to grant access to manage the selected license:
When a license is shared with another admin user it appears in their list of licenses alongside any other licenses they have activated. Licenses can only be shared with users in the same directory as the signed in user.
Note: Licenses should only be shared with other admin users as this grants full access to perform all administrative functions on a license. End users do not need a license to be shared with them in order for MacroView software to request and use it.
