The new Outlook for Windows
The new Outlook for Windows is now available for customers who are opted into the Office Insiders Beta Channel.
If you are a paid customer with a commercial or education mailbox as your default sender account in classic Outlook for Windows and are in Beta Channel, you will see a “Try the new Outlook” toggle in the top right corner of that Outlook for Windows app and you can switch that toggle to try the new Outlook for Windows.
This is an early preview of the new Outlook and hence, not all functionality from the classic Outlook for Windows is available in this version yet. Currently, the new Outlook is effectively an overlay to Outlook Web Access.
There are known limitations with this version of Outlook, and they are detailed here: New Outlook for Windows & Getting started with the new Outlook for Windows
Does it work with DMS?
Unfortunately, MacroView DMS is not supported in this version of Outlook due to its lack of support for COM/VSTO Add-ins at this point and it appears Microsoft has no plan to support COM/VSTO Add-ins. This means that from a third-party vendor perspective there is currently no option to integrate with it.
We are investigating ways to address these issues but, in the interim, if MacroView DMS is critical for your work then we recommend you stay in the classic Outlook until this is resolved. You can switch the toggle to go between apps as often as you want or use MacroView Mail in the new Outlook as an alternative for email filing.
