The key limitations to note when using MacroView DMS with SharePoint relate to the length of the filename and full URL path.

1.       Filename cannot exceed 115 characters including the file extension

2.       Full URL length cannot exceed 236 characters

Exceeding the above character limitations will result in unexpected behaviour in different parts of the product. Opening and saving documents via Word directly would allow users to go beyond the above boundaries but not recommended.

Note: DMS relies on the SharePoint object model and there are differences/limitations depending on the task being performed. The browser is not constrained by the SharePoint object model like DMS is.
