MacroView DMS search panels allow you to quickly and easily locate documents and emails in SharePoint by specifying document properties and keywords contained within the documents, and if your search panel includes refiners, you can further filter the search results to find the document you are after.
You can also change the order of the results from the List View Toolbar or sort the items on the current page by clicking on a search result column header. If there is a large number of results you can page forward and backwards through them.
However, when there is a very large number of documents matching the search criteria, or you are not looking for a specific document and just want a listing of all the documents returned by the search, you can export the search results to Excel.
Exporting the search results
After executing a search, click the Export to Excel option on the File List Toolbar.
This will open a save file dialog allowing you to select a save location and specify the name of the export file.
The export process runs in the background and a progress bar is displayed which can be hidden if you wish to continue working while the export completes.
The generated Excel file will contain all of the search results (not just those displayed on the current page) respecting the selected sort order and search result columns.
Version support
Export to Excel is supported in DMS and DMS Pro 8.5.1074 and later versions.
Additional notes
- The file can only be exported as an Excel (.xlsx) file. For other formats (e.g. CSV) you can first open the file in Microsoft Excel and then save it as a different format.
- When exporting results from SharePoint Online an additional UniqueId column is always appended to the results.
